Zulio's blog!

I have visited Lucio blog and I saw many photos and pieces of writing very interesting. I liked the colors that Lucio used in his blog, and always he selected the precise photo to attach every task. Good job made Lucio with his blog. The quality of the writing was not the best; however, his blog is very friendly. I really recommend to visit it. The most interesting post that I liked was about “art”. As most of us, Lucio wrote about art and that kind of things, admitting that he was not fan of painting, expositions and artists. The point is he made that hard task in a very interesting post with a very nice picture of “naked bodies” a fascinating piece of art that has traveled around the world.
There are many post in his blog, very exciting most of them(some of the tasks were not very inspiring to write a good piece of writing, but, he always knew how to make motivating every post so that I decided to write about his blog. Lucio Diaz is a nice guy, easy-going, reliable and very funny too. Maybe he should put more attention in his writing, to write in word is very helpful actually.
This semester has been very different, because I have done different activities; I had never done activities on line (blogs). It was amazing really. The next semester I hope to have the same kind of activities; write in my own blog, comment in others blogs (classmates). To be honest I have learned a lot this semester writing about different task. My writing progress has improved. Write every week was a good method to improve my English skills. I usually posted on my classmate’s blogs, not always! I have to be honest, but I always visited their blogs. I hope to keep contact with my classmates through blogs, it s more confident that facebook.

Hard to express

During the semester I have had different emotions about the course. I started very well, at the beginning I got good marks, but then my performance was not the same, indeed; I had a very poor performance in the mid-term exam. It was hard to accept marks that were not according to my real level. That was a signal (alarm). From that moment I have studied harder. Nowadays, I am preparing my self to the final exam. I believe that I am going to get better results the next time. I feel that I have improved my English skills. During the semester I have learned many important things, for instances; passive voice, new words, a lot of vocabulary, tenses, conditionals, etc. To sump up, I have learned as mach I should. I was unmotivated (a couple of weeks ago), but that was in relation of my marks that I got in the mid-term, because I studied a lot and the results were horrible.


About the class, I think classes were not very dynamic, or interesting, making some of them very boring and uninterested, maybe because, most of teachers come here for a little period of time (as a part-time job), so that they did not prepare their classes very well, but, there are some exceptions; Beatriz class, Pablo Sílva class, Astrid class, they make the difference! (This is according to my self). For these days, we are very tired, we just want to end the semester, and obviously we want to get the ticket for language 4 already.

Chilitoooooo!!!

Chile has broken the history. It was a weird match where Chile had the control during all match, but with just one goal (1-0). Anyway, that was enough to provoke a lot of happiness in every city in our country.

Honduras did not show nothing special, indeed; it was a very defensive and conservative team. Their way to play was very limited and boring, defending the first and second half.

Chilito showed a very offensive game, with many players trying to score, but the solidity defensive demonstrated by Honduras did not allow a better result in the end.

Now, our team must win if they want to classify to the second round. The scene will be very hard. Switzerland is a very organized team, with players really athletic and tall. On the other hand, Chile has a very fast way of playing, with players very young and a very collective way to play, all of them exceptionally cooperative making a solid team.


I am very happy; Marcelo Bielsa team got the three points. But the result was very poor. Now we have to be serene because this is just the first match and we are not classified yet. Of course, I am going to celebrate if Chile wins the next match because we are going to be classified.

Sir Ken Robinson's talk "Do Schools Kill Creativity"

I believe “creativity “is the most important thing if we want to be good educators. According to that I saw in that funny talk, Ken talks about creativity as a way to improve our educational system. Nowadays, our educational structure is not very creative at all. Maybe that is why many students got few results in some areas. The idea is not entertainment the class, the idea is make the class interactive, dynamic. Fall in routines is a very bad practice in our system. Make subjects interesting is our principal mission. The intention is not to call the attention of one student; the idea is to call the class attention in general. Another thing very important is “the participation” in class. Giving motivations to participate is part of our job. For that labor we must be creative and at the same time, push them (students) in order to be creative and original. We can learn many things from them, even the “creativity”. According to me, be dynamic while we teach is the key to be creative and move the all class. In my own experience, few times I have seen these elements in class, here and school. Sir Ken gives an interesting review how is the system nowadays, telling some experiences in a funny way. Anyway, he is rights about how limit can be a class if we are not creative.

Orlan

I believe Orlan is a very interesting artist. However, her concept of art is extremely uncommon. About pay for a kiss, is a very good way to call people attention, and the results were very odd. She really loves her own art concept. According to my self, Orlan is not an artist at all. She is just somebody that needs attention and her way to call it is comic. I did not understand why every famous people should be exhibitionist how she said. She is an “icon” of narcissism; she follows her own style. Orlan is very worries about what we can see about her image maybe that is way she does a lot of crazy things that she calls “art”. “Narcissism” and “exhibitionist” are two different concepts that have a big connection that Orlan combine very well. If you are someone famous you have to be exhibitionist and show what you think in an expressive way (according to Orlan). In my personal opinion, she does not offer none message to society. She is a crazy woman.

Jean-Michel Basquiat

Jean is my icon of Art. Actually, when I saw his pieces for the fist time I loved them. His style always was very different than the rest. Basquiat started painting graffitists in subway station of Manhattan. His art was inspired in African culture, in Picasso, and in abuse of heroine.
I knew about him when I was in high school (a long time ago). Basically, his way to express his art by graffities and beautiful pieces woke up inside my self my attention. I would say his pieces are very colorful and demonstratives, maybe that is why I love his art and called my attention.

Always the same!!

Our quality of education is getting worst. This crisis is very old; governments tried to improve that situation. I am not going to talk about the actual presidential administration. I do not want to be a critic guy, but as everybody, I am not a blind. To be really honest, we have to admit; for these days Education is a very well pay business. The worst thing is the results, still being bad, very bad indeed.

According to I read in the article, I saw a very good solution to improve the Education, I mean, the system; this would be to select people (with the best results in PSU) in order to get better teachers and this way to get better results in our poor education.

(To Study)There are two possibilities, get good results in PSU or have a lot of money to study (college, University). What about if you do not have none of them? It is simple, you are dead. In my case I did not have a good education (at school), anyway I used to study a lot, so that I got an ordinary (600points) results in PSU. Many people want to study, but the can not do that, why? Because is very very expensive to get a place in any university. Nowadays the biggest problem is the business in education, no money no study!


Many teachers got very bad marks in different areas of education, which is simple; the teaching has not been good (in our training), now maybe the situation has improved, but the way is very long. We are going to be part of that change (to improve it), bur first, politics must be push them away of their position. This crisis (Education) is not only problem of the area (teachers, students), this is a national issue. For these days, improve that will be impossible; for the president everything is a business, sadly including the Education.
